Our friend David visited from California and we had such a fun week showing him our island favorites! David and Gil were classmates at Trinity for their first couple of years at school before they both moved away. Old friends are the best friends!
We took David first to Manoli's and spent our dinner there mapping out the week ahead. So many things to do and see!
On his first morning, we introduced David to snorkeling at Wailea Point, the sea turtles were out and it was a wonderful morning on the water.
Boys got in a round of golf that afternoon.
We ate breakfast in the next morning before setting off for Big Beach.
Big Beach. We quickly learned where this name came from and thankfully all came away unharmed. It was a close one though. Just ask Greg and Sloan. Point Break.
No wave was too big for these two, the bigger the better for them. They have no fear I tell you!
The boys played another round this afternoon.
Greg and Sloan were the victors today, brother vs brother and father vs son. David held the #1 spot on the leaderboard each round they played, we'll be watching for him on the tour, mark my words!
The next morning the boys took off on the Red Line snorkeling boat, an adventure boat that stopped in remote snorkel areas in which larger boats cannot be accommodated. Beck did not make the age cut and was not happy about being left behind, not happy at all. Next year sweet boy! Sloan on the other hand was as happy as a clam at high tide making the cut and finally being included with the big boys. He was on cloud nine and enjoyed the gale force wind conditions more than anyone else on board that boat, he could not get enough I tell you!
We dropped Greg at the airport that afternoon so that he could head home, poor guy has to go back for work. Stinks! I took the boys over to Kapalua after that and boy, howdy did David enjoy that. I saw stars in his eyes!
I love this photo of the boys!
That evening, we enjoyed a lovely dinner and show at the Old Lahaina luau and immersed ourselves in traditional Hawaiian culture and cuisine.
Couldn't leave Lahaina without stopping at the banyan tree.
Surfing in Kihei was on the agenda for the following day. Seeing as David is quite the surfer these days, he proved to be an excellent instructor for our crew!
Although the boys did not get on the golf course that afternoon, they were not to be deterred. They began designing their own holes in the carpet at home complete with bunkers and hazards, so much fun to watch their creativity!
And then there was the day that we went cliff jumping. Boy, oh boy did they have fun here! Alice, I sure hope you are still speaking to me after seeing photos of your precious boy doing this!
What a fun week we had with David here! We are so thankful for these boys and the friendship that they have shared for almost 10 years. Although many miles now separate them, it was almost, almost as if not a day has passed...
Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything. Muhammad Ali
