I spent much time on the sidelines this year cheering on my little sports and there is no place that I would have rather been!
In the fall, Sloan and Beck played together on a team in the 1st grade town soccer league. Boy they were quite the duo on the field and I sure hope that this was the first of many seasons that I will get to watch them play as teammates!
Sloan played winter basketball through the Charles River Y with his classmates. Their team was 18-0 for the season and let me just tell you, those boys knew how to celebrate! It was quite an exciting season for Sloan and I loved watching him not only grow and develop as a player but also have great fun with his dearest friends from school.
Beck patiently waited on the sidelines and was called up on occasion to play as a "little Celtic", a role he took very seriously!
Gil was again selected to play on one of our town travel basketball teams and Greg was recruited to coach. What fun it was to watch these two together! Gil worked hard throughout the season and proved to be one of the teams strongest outside shooters.
Finally and with much anticipation, Beck was old enough this spring to play in our town Little League. He played on the Phillies and displayed a level of skill and knowledge seen in kids twice his age. He spent his "off" days practicing his hitting and fielding in the back yard while also working diligently on his baseball card collection, specifically focusing on his Phillies players. He was one dedicated player!
Sloan played spring baseball too and was selected to play for the Pirates. He was such a fun player to watch throughout the season and worked so hard at home on his hitting and fielding. He had more home runs than I could keep up with and in the field, double plays were his specialty!
Gil has played AAU baseball for TMB (Team Mass Baseball) this spring and summer. He trained and conditioned throughout the fall and winter and began playing on the big diamond when the season began. He has enjoyed pitching for the team as well as his positions at short stop and 2nd base. They are in the middle of play offs at the moment, such a fantastic season for Gil and his team!
