Things are Looking Up
Before I go back and recount our journey thus far, I do have to share our good news! No, it's not another baby, whew! We have quite enough on our proverbial plate at the moment, thank you!
The good news is that we did find a new home and both parties have signed the contracts. I have been continually reassured that nothing can go wrong now, although I am not holding my breath. We've been here before, and things somehow seem to fall apart before our very eyes. So, until we move in and I change the locks so no one can get to us, I will be waiting for that other shoe to drop!
The challenge with this new home is that is will not be ready for us until the end of this month. Lucky for us, we get to enjoy these close quarters for several weeks! We are looking forward to lots of family bonding time and many memories in the making!
A funny story about our new home . . . when G and I came over in November for our preliminary school and home search, we were successful in finding a wonderful school for little G, and then searched for days to find a home nearby. We were successful with that task as well, and made an offer on a beautiful family home right around the corner from little G's new school. I hopped on a plane back to Dallas already planning where I was going to hang the paintings and place our furniture. Before I even landed, G found out that we had lost the home to another family. We were devastated! Luckily, G was staying in Europe for another week for business and to now find another home. And that he did. This is where the story gets quite long, and I will fill in these details soon.
Jump ahead to last week . . . after weeks of going back and forth with our estate agent and on through to the landlord, we were officially released from the "damp" home. Now comes a mad dash to find a new home, and lo and behold, a new property has come on the market. A family that relocated in November from the states has been called back home. We go to look at the property, and would you believe that it is the very same home that we placed an offer on back in November? The family moving back to the states is the family that we lost the home to originally. Things have come full circle, wouldn't you say?
I'm struck by how things work out. Sometimes the end result is so much sweeter because of the bumpy ride to get there. We know this first hand and take the time each and every day to count our blessings!
Now I'm off to order change of address cards, finally!
