Our Little Nest

Several of you have asked for photos of our little nest, and I use the word "little" quite literally! This is home . . .

We live in a Victorian terraced home that was originally built in the mid 1800s for the workers of the first Worlds Fair that was held in Hyde Park in 1851. It has four stories, and we have been told that four families would have lived here during those days, occupying one floor each. These photos are of the lower ground floor where we have our playroom, kitchen and tiny courtyard.

Can you guess that Bon Jovi was blaring on the i-pod when this was snapped?

This photo shows our study/garage which is on the landing between the lower ground and ground floors. What you can't see (because I strategically placed the camera!) is the floor to ceiling stack of golf clubs/backpacks/etc. that is in the other corner.

This is our living room, here it is called the reception room. Yes, this is to scale and our television does take up three quarters of the space!

G and S are sharing a room here. I'm not sure which one enjoys sharing more!

And baby B's sweet nursery.

Big G and I are in the penthouse here. I didn't want to photograph that one quite yet as it is still a work in progress.

We brought several "new" antique rugs that we had purchased right before coming to London. I couldn't bear to leave them in Dallas, so they were shipped with us. The ol' saying is true that everything is bigger in Texas, especially the homes, and only one out of three rugs fit into this home. You might get a kick out of this . . . the only rug that fit was the one that was under our kitchen table in our little breakfast nook on Forest Haven. This little rug now sits wall to wall in our main living room. That gives you some idea of the size of our new home!

As that relates to not photographing our room, besides it striking me as a bit odd to post photos of where we sleep, is the fact that the 2 larger rugs that do not fit anywhere are half-way folded up and are quite lumpy sitting under our bed. It's lovely, really! My love for all things nice and neat and pretty is being tested here!
